Description
The very teeny tiny female blossoms of the American Hazelnut emerge from the stems of the shrub and are wind pollenated by the male catkins that hang off of the shrub. They are so small that if you are not looking you might not even notice they are there. In my part of New England I see them in late March or early April, just after the snow melts.
